Description

The introduction of the currency called the schilling began in Austria in 1924, until it was replaced by the euro in 2002. Many people still have fond memories of the schilling today and have the opportunity to acquire the currency in the form of gold coins and thus hold a piece of Austrian history in their hands.

The gold schilling coins of the First Republic all show the coat of arms of the Republic of Austria on their obverse, while the respective nominal value and the year are stamped on the reverse from 1926 to 1934. From 1935 to 1938, the 25 schilling coins feature a depiction of St. Leopold on the reverse, while the 100 schilling coin shows a symbolic representation of the Magna Mater Austriae.

They are a valuable historical relic and an important addition to any collection of coins from Austrian economic history.
