Description

The Hungarian crown gold coin, also known as the “Corona Hungary”, is an impressive tribute to the historic Hungarian crowns that were minted between 1892 and 1915. The crown was originally introduced during the currency reform that took place in 1892. These coins bear the effigy of Franz Josef I, the Austrian Emperor and Hungarian King. In Hungarian he is called “Ferencz Joszef”. Unlike the Austrian crowns, the Hungarian coin shows Franz Josef I not only as a portrait, but also with a sceptre and orb. This pose emphasizes his royal dignity and authority.

The gold crown on the value side proudly displays the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Hungary, crowned by the crown of St. Stephen. The respective face value of the Hungarian corona is indicated underneath. The coins are available in 10 crown, 20 crown and 100 crown versions.
