Description
The Queens Beasts coin series is an impressive collector coin series produced by the British Royal Mint. Each design in the series honors an animal that is part of the British royal coat of arms. The Queens Beasts coins are available in various sizes and precious metals.
The series was inspired by the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, when ten heraldic animals from the Queen’s family tree were represented at the ceremony at Westminister Abbey. Production of the Queens Beasts series began in 2016 with the motif of the lion. Each coin is artfully designed and shows the respective animal in a majestic pose as well as the corresponding heraldic shield. The fine lines in the background not only provide a special visual appeal, but also increase the coins’ resistance to counterfeiting. A total of 10 different motifs were minted.
The value side of the coin shows the portrait of the reigning British monarch. The inscription states the name of the heraldic animal depicted, the size, the fineness and the year of minting.
